Where people and Purpose connect
Dear Friends and Supporters:
Thank you for your interest and energy over the past five years. We worked together to evaluate the feasibility of a community and non-profit center for River Falls. Our Board of Directors has determined that the Foster Community Foundation will set the project aside for now. It is our finding that the community is not ready yet to make an investment in either a long-term leased space or new construction. Our partners confirmed that they are also not yet ready to combine their organizational efforts and resources for the commitment needed to pursue The Gathering Place. We welcome your feedback on possible uses of the winter street location for short-term or long-term use.
We feel that our vision still has value in the community, however the timing isn’t right yet. We continue to support volunteering and community engagement – our core mission. We will continue to be visible as a member in the Gathering Waters Confluence supporting regional economic opportunities for community development and volunteer involvement. We also support the dialog occurring in our community regarding the Kinnickinnic River Corridor evaluation and renewal over the six to eight years. As our community engages in the assessment of the future of the hydro-power operation, storm water management and related waterfront connections, we foresee that our community will grow from these conversations.
